hospital food is growing on me.

for some reason, life is bringing me into hospitals a lot this last month or so.  not for my own health reasons, but for others.

todays stop…St. johns hospital in santa monica.  the ER, of course.  and since i happened to have my camera with me, i took advantage and had some fun.  visuals always expand a written story.

WRITTEN:

i got a call from my friend kielys mom at about 4pm.  kiely was in the ER and had strange symptoms for a few days.  her mom, not living here, needed to be sure her daughter was ok.  of course i was in that ER a few minutes later to see my friend and her state.

oye.  the waiting and testing and waiting that happens in the emergency rooms at hospitals.

after hours of blood tests. cat scans. peeing in cups. intravenous pain meds.  waiting and waiting….and more waiting….the results were in.  viral spinal meningitis.  poor thing!  thank God it’s not bacterial spinal meningitis.  with viral you get to go home.  if it were bacterial, we would be sleeping in the hospital tonight.

im just grateful to have been able to sit with my friend through the unknown…till it was known.

now, she sleeps.  and i blog.

LET ME SHOUT THIS PART. SHE WILL BE FINE.  AS MENTIONED, ITS A VIRUS, NOT BACTERIAL.  KINDA LIKE ANY OTHER VIRAL FLU, JUST MAKES FOR DIFFERENT KIND OF SYMPTOMS.

VISUAL:

poor baby

hydration

her IV in her vein. ewwww.

vein overflow

a spinal tap only requires a bandaid after procedure. wow.

feel light headed...must text....

another desperate cry for help

the end.
